Protanopia and deuteranopia confuse red and green and together affect about 8% of men. Tritanopia, which confuses blue and yellow, is much rarer. Achromatopsia, a vision made only of greys, is exceptional. The simulation works in linear light with the Viénot and Brettel models, so greys stay grey and the colors shift the way they do for a dichromat.
The comparison view overlays the original and the simulation with a slider you can drag or move with the arrow keys, and lets you download the result at the image's own size. The grid view shows the four types side by side, which is the quickest way to spot a legibility problem without changing a setting each time. The intensity slider softens the simulation, from your original image to the full effect.
